Parents

Oasis Elementary School strongly believes that parent involvement plays a critical role in the growth, development, happiness and success of a child in school. We encourage and invite parents to become involved in their child's education. We offer many opportunities for involvement, which can be accomplished in or out of the classroom, at events, or at home.

The State of Florida gives its schools a grade each year, using the results of the FCAT (Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test) and other data. For the past three years, Oasis Elementary School has received the highest grade of A.

Parents,

As the school year ends, we need to remind parents to pick up their student’s medication. Students are not allowed to bring home medication for the safety of our students. We cannot keep medications in the school over the summer. We will keep just enough of the medication to finish the school year. Any medication left in the clinic after the end of the school year will be discarded.

Florida statute 1006.062 requires written parental permission for a student to take medication during the school day; therefore, new doctor and parent permission forms for medications need to be filled out each school year. Since many of your children will see the doctor over the summer, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to pick up the forms from the front desk or clinic so they will be ready for next year upon your child’s return. If possible, I would prefer health statements,  medication authorization forms and medications received by August 1st . I would like to start organizing clinic business before school starts for our students.  Medication must be in its original container with the child’s name, name of medication, dose and frequency. For more complex health conditions,(seizures, diabetes, blood clotting disorders, etc)it would be better to speak with me first to obtain the correct forms and discuss your child’s condition in more detail.

Your cooperation in helping up keep your children safe is appreciated.

Thank you,

Maria Casey-RN
